Pherus

The name "Pherus" has an interesting origin. It all started with "Metospherus," a name I came up with, inspired by Morpheus, the Greek god of dreams and son of Hypnos, the god of sleep. Morpheus' name comes from the Greek word morphe, meaning "form" or "shape," and the Latin suffix eus. In mythology, Morpheus was a divine messenger who could shape people's dreams to deliver messages from the gods.

The idea behind the name Pherus was deeply personal. As the founder, I had this dream of endless possibilities—of making a real impact in the world through technology and information. But "Metospherus" felt too long and cumbersome, even for me. That's when I stumbled upon "Pherusa," a name that caught my attention.

Pherusa is one of the 50 Nereids, the marine-nymph daughters of Nereus, the 'Old Man of the Sea,' and the Oceanid Doris in Greek mythology. Her name means "she who carries," and she, along with her sister Dynamene, was associated with the power of great ocean swells. These powerful female figures, Pherusa and her sisters, even appeared to Thetis when she mourned the loss of Achilles' friend Patroclus.

So, I shortened Metospherus to Pherus, blending the idea of dreams and endless possibilities with the strength and power embodied by Pherusa. To me, Pherus represents the God of possible imaginations or possibilities, a name that symbolizes my vision to bring innovative ideas to life. If I’m being honest, as a writer, I’d like to think of Pherus as the goddess of thoughts and possibilities in reality.
