Kōhī - Instant Roasted Coffee
At our farm in Fort Portal, we cultivate a variety of coffee plants, each contributing its unique flavors and characteristics to the coffee we produce. My father's farm is home to different types of coffee trees, including Arabica, Robusta, and a few rare variants with unique mutations, giving us the opportunity to offer a rich diversity of flavors. These plants are carefully nurtured in the lush, fertile soil of the region, where the climate provides ideal conditions for growth.
Coffee Varieties
- Arabica: Known for its smooth and mild flavor, Arabica beans have a complex flavor profile with hints of fruit and floral notes. These beans are highly prized and are perfect for a refined, balanced coffee experience.
- Robusta: Robusta beans are stronger and more bitter than Arabica, offering a bold, full-bodied flavor. They contain more caffeine, making them a great choice for those who prefer a more robust and energizing cup of coffee.
- Unique Mutations: We also grow a few rare coffee trees with unique mutations. These trees have been selectively bred for their exceptional flavor characteristics, making them stand out from traditional coffee varieties.
The Process
- Harvesting: Once the coffee cherries are ripe, they are handpicked to ensure only the best, most mature cherries are selected. This meticulous process ensures high-quality beans and helps maintain the integrity of the flavor profiles we aim to produce.
- Drying: After harvesting, the coffee cherries are spread out in the sun to dry naturally. This sun-drying process is key in developing the distinctive flavors of each coffee variety. The cherries are turned regularly to ensure even drying, which helps prevent mold and preserves the flavor.
- Roasting: Once dried, the beans are roasted at carefully controlled temperatures. The roasting process is crucial, as it brings out the rich, deep flavors of the coffee. We ensure that the roasting is done just right to highlight the unique qualities of each coffee variety while keeping the overall flavor profile smooth and aromatic.
- Grinding: After roasting, the beans are ground to the perfect size for instant coffee, similar to the finely ground consistency of Nescafé as our inspiration to be openly honest. We aim for a smooth, consistent grind that dissolves easily in hot water, ensuring that each cup of coffee is quick to prepare but still packed with flavor.
- Flavor Infusion: For those seeking something unique, we also offer flavored coffee. We infuse some of our coffee with mint and other aromatic blends, creating new and exciting flavors. These infusions are carefully crafted to complement the natural taste of the coffee, providing a refreshing and unique coffee experience.
- Packaging: Our coffee is packaged in eco-friendly, reusable containers to help reduce waste. These containers can be returned to us for refills, making it easy for our customers to enjoy their favorite coffee while contributing to a more sustainable future.
